The bustle of the film industry is feeling in Old San Juan and Fajardo, as part of the filming of several scenes from "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" during this week.

Today, a small production team is working on the assembly of the "set" to be created in the Castillo San Cristobal in Old San Juan, which will be used tomorrow. That is the only sequence that will be taken in the capital.

Another production team works in Fajardo, where Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz arrive tomorrow for the last scene of the film, Palominitos, between Thursday and Friday.

The film is the fourth installment in the saga of Walt Disney Studios and has the May 20, 2011 as release date.

Old San Juan is a familiar area for Depp, and it was there where he worked mostly in the filming of "The Rum Diary, between March and May 2009. This production has not yet been released.

University of Greenwich Facebook Page Posting
We have recently been informed by the University, of their plans for the filming of the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie taking place over September/October at the Greenwich Campus. This will be one of the largest filming operations to have been commissioned within the University and will inevitably cause some disruption to staff, students and visitors across the whole site.

Below is the latest information we have regarding the implications and would request that all familiarise themselves with it.

Set Building:This will begin early on the morning of Monday 13th September. There will be green screens erected at either end of College Way and on Lower Grand Square. A large scenery set is planned for the western side of King Charles Court and also on Lower Grand Square. A temporary gravel track will be laid along College Way and partly in Lower Grand Square.

Filming Issues:Filming will likely commence on site on 27th September until and including the 8th October (there may be some rest days). Filming will take place in the Queen Anne courtyard for a half day on the 27th September as well as the Painted Hall (half day) and College Way and Lower Grand Square (full days). During the first week of filming there will be two days (dates not yet known) where there will be crowd scenes with 500 extras involved. The second week the scenes will be smaller. There will be approximately 60 horses stabled in the lawned area between the King William and Dreadnought building.

Filming will commence at approximately 0800hrs and end at approximately 1900hrs but filming crew will be on site from 0600hrs until midnight. Filming security will be on site at all times.
